A privileged environment

Nestled at the foot of the Montserrat mountains

Located in San Salvador de Guardiola, in the Bages region, Urpina is in a privileged setting. With incredible views of Montserrat, the estate, with more than 120 hectares of land, has special and highly valuable qualities for many crops such as cereals and olives, and especially for vineyards.

Vinyards recovery

The recovery of the vineyard that once stood on the estate was at the origin of the Urpina project. The oldest Sumoll vineyard is nearly one hundred years old, and it is located next to the care home. It is considered the oldest in the Bages region, having survived the phylloxera plague.

In addition to Sumoll, Mandó is another of the main native varieties that have been recovered at the Urpina estate, which also produces Merlot and Cabernet Souvignon. New vineyards were planted in 2014, with 4 hectares under cultivation.

Committed to the environment

Urpina is a legacy we want to preserve for future generations, a natural heritage that must be looked after and loved.

Renewable energy

Committed to sustainability, we use renewable energies with photovoltaic panels and a biomass boiler to supply the facilities on the Urpina estate, thus reducing our ecological impact.

Ecology

Urpina’s vineyards are all organic. No chemicals are used and there is no mechanised process. The entire process is handmade because the hands are the value of our mission.

Forestry management

The forestry management of the farm allows us to be self-sufficient, transforming the wood chips collected from the forests and the remains of vine shoots into fuel. We close the cycle by transforming the forest biomass into a solid biofuel.

Environment recovery

True to our commitment to the land, we have recovered and conserved the estate’s vineyard huts, preserving the environment and the estate’s historical heritage.
